Pattern for vest "Morning mist" EN
A versatile knitted vest designed for layering and everyday styling
€11.99
The “Morning Mist” vest is a blend of softness, lightness, and subtle texture, inspired by the quietly breaking dawn. It is worked in stockinette stitch, while the side seams are replaced by an elegant lace pattern that, upon close inspection, resembles owl eyes. The pattern is straightforward to memorize, allowing you to knit most of the project without constantly checking the chart – simply enjoying the process instead.
The vest is knitted in the round up to the armholes, so there is absolutely no seaming required. Later, the front and back are worked separately, and the shoulders are joined using a needle or a crochet hook by knitting two stitches together, forming a delicate braid that leads toward the neckline.
The armholes are finished with an i-cord edging, which softens the edge and gives it a gentle, cozy look. The neckline rises slightly above the shoulders and is finished with ribbing – this prevents curling and helps it sit beautifully in place. The final bind-off is a stretchy double elongated-stitch technique that keeps the neckline flexible and comfortable.
The vest is made from a blend of merino wool and silk mohair – it’s the mohair halo that gives it cloud-like softness and the feel of early morning mist. I believe the pattern would also work beautifully with 100% silk mohair held double.
This pattern is ideal for beginners who have already completed at least one project: the techniques are simple, there aren’t many of them, and I guide you throughout the entire process with video tutorials.
Experienced knitters will find this a quick, pleasant, and relaxing project that can be paused at any time and easily resumed later.
